Exposition Writing Services

Do you need or want a big, complex manual to operate in the part 102 environment?

No? Neither.

As a document writer, we are proud of the specificity of the manuals we create and customise for our clients and always focus on quality output over volume. The DronezUp NZ compliance process has been helping operators, both new and experienced, meet the requirements of rule part 102 for years. We appreciate the feedback we have had from operators in the industry who are competent in operating a business in the agrichemical application environment and use the 102 process as a foundation for their operation. We don’t see the need for elaborate, complex and often restrictive compliance documentation, when a simple, easy to comprehend and adhere to package achieves the same result.

Our goal is, and always has been, to be the best in industry, never the biggest. We strive to provide a personalised service that is supportive and inclusive for the operator, not just during the initial sales process but on an ongoing basis, ensuring our clients don’t get lost as just another number in a tally.

Worried that we don’t have any real-world experience in our industry?

DronezUp is an original 141 training provider, dedicated to the Unmanned Aircraft industry, we are also a busy Part 102 agricultural operator and a DJI authorised reseller, so the training we provide is based upon years of experience working with the aircraft we sell, in the environment our clients are training to be a part of. Our instructors have been in the industry for years with a variety of experience including aerial application using unmanned aircraft, rule development, R & D of emerging technologies, aerial application of agrichemicals in manned aviation, aircraft maintenance engineering, aerial application for dry and liquid media equipment manufacturing, and of course education and instruction.

We educate our clients so they can make accurate decisions and can grasp their own understanding of the requirements they are working under so they can not only be competent and compliant, but understand the reasoning behind regulations, which creates good decision-making processes which become second nature.

We also appreciate the commercial reality of a part 102 operation, and ensure our clients have the flexibility of choice as much as legislation will allow. It is not a requirement of CAA to list your part 141 training provider in your manual, so we ensure our training statements are compliant but generic, allowing the individuals operating under the 102-operating certificate to complete training and recertification when and where is convenient to them.

It’s important to remember, if it’s listed in your manual, you must comply with it, so be sure to only include specifics that are necessary as a 102 operator, to ensure you as the operator retain the freedom to operate your business as you choose.

Let’s work together to grow our industry in a way that works for all and not just some. Promotion of operators working together and having a robust and up to date understanding of the legislation around the environment they work in is key to continued success for all.

What do you do now?

Contact us and let us know which kind of exposition suite you need for your business. This will either be for photographic and survey type business, or agricultural spraying and spreading businesses. Once we know what you’re looking for, we will send you through a list of information and documentation that we will need from you in order to get the process going.

Once we get all the information we need, we can start working on your exposition. Once this happens, you can expect a draft exposition from us within 2-3 weeks. Remember, this does depend on when we get the information required to be added in to your manual.

We provide all of the manuals and application documentation you require, as well as sending in the application for you. Our costing also includes any additional adjustments that may come through once the CAA inspector works through your application.

There is also a charge which needs to be paid by your business directly to CAA. This charge goes towards the assessment fee that CAA charges for completing your application.

Fill in the form below to find out more.

FAQ's

Are there any other costs involved after the initial payment for the exposition service?

There is a payment to the CAA which needs to be prepaid. There is information on the application form around how to pay this. It is essentially prepaying for 2 hours of their time for when the inspector starts working on your application. The confirmation of payment for this is part of what needs to be sent in with your application.

There are also a few documents that are mentioned throughout your operations manual, or that are just required when running your drone operations, such as pilot logs etc. We can provide these for you, specific to your company, in a fully editable version for a small fee. We have had many customers do this in the past with us as it is a lot quicker than them having to create them themselves.

What's involved in the CV that I need to attached to my FPP application?

This isn't necessarily a CV in the traditional sense. You don't need to include all of your schooling history and part time jobs as a teenager example. This is a change for the CAA to see why you are suitable to hold the responsibility of the Prime Person role in your drone operations. Some items you may include are:

  • Work experience where you have had leadership or management experience
  • Any experience where you have had to manage risks
  • Previous experience with drones
  • If you are applying for an agricultural 102 certificate, then any previous experience in the agricultural industry, particularly the use of chemicals etc

If you are still unsure, don't worry, we can help you through this process as well.

How long does it take to get a certificate issued once my application is in?

CAA always have a rough timeline on their website at this link. They are currently saying upwards of around 6 months, however we have seen some come through a little quicker than that which is great. CAA are working hard to bring this wait time down even further.

Remember, in the wait time, you can always keep working on your flying skills with a drone that is able to be flown under 101 rules, and you can also work on the other aspects of your business so that when your certificate does come through, you're full steam ahead.

Can I operate my drone while waiting for the certificate to be issued?

Only under 101 rules. This means that if you are purchased a drone for agricultural use, or even photographic ones larger than 25 kg, you can't operate them. You can train organise to come up and do the odd day flight training with our Training Manager if you have already purchased your aircraft and would like to build some familiarity with it.

Can I hold my 102 certificate personally?

Unfortunately, no. CAA only issues 102 operating certificates to companies, not individual people.

What if I don't know some of the information you need for creating the manual?

No problem. Our services include all the support you need as we work through the process. So if there's something you're not sure of, we can help you work it out or find the information needed.

Can DronezUp help in the future if I want to amend my manual?

Absolutely. Simply contact us when you are wanting to amend something in your manual and we can get this sorted for you in no time.

Can DronezUp do amendments to my manual if it was originally provided by another Exposition Writing Company?

Unfortunately, we cannot do these changes for you as we don't own the intellectual property that is your manual. Amendments generally need to be completed by the owner of the intellectual property rights.

Do I need to do an amendment if I update something in my Hazard Register or Aircraft Register?

No. These things don't need an official amendment. CAA do however require to always have the most up to date copy of both of these documents. This simply means that if you add or adjust something in your Hazard Register, or add or remove an aircraft from your Aircraft Register, simply send CAA through an updated version for their records.
